How do I find out if my computer has viruses? If your computer is performing slower than it normally does or is slower than it was when it was new, this usually means that it could be infected with viruses or spy-ware. In most cases you will see a lot of activity from your hard drive and your computer will seem to be working hard just to perform simple functions. You may also start receiving a lot of pop-ups. What are viruses & spy-ware?Viruses and spy-ware are small programs or "code" designed to either be malicious or to steal information from your computer. Viruses are more on the malicious side and cause serious harm to files and data. Most virus infections spread through emails and attach to as many files as it can. Some viruses can actually make you loose sensitive data when the virus actually "activates" on a specific date, even in your backups! This is why it is imperative to have proper antivirus protection in your computer to protect from these attacks! Call us for a free virus evaluation/scan of your computer. Spy-ware is less damaging to data, however, is more of a threat due to the fact that it targets stealing your personal information such as what you browse for on the internet and even can steal your online financial information! Usually when you start receiving pop-ups and/or large amounts of spam, this is a good sign that your computer is infected with spy-ware. Spy-ware is also known as "Mal-Ware". For a free spy-ware and antivirus scan, please contact us! Are FREE antivirus programs as good as retail ones? No. There is an old saying... "You get what you pay for!" Most free antivirus & anti spy-ware programs themselves are spy-ware and are used by companies to solicit you. They usually keep track of sites you visit and what you search for and sell these results to marketing companies. Can my computer be upgraded?Yes, in most cases some simple low cost upgrades can dramatically improve the performance/functionality of your existing computer. However, in some cases, it may be more cost effective to replace your existing computer rather than upgrade it. The factors that mainly count in this decision is the age of the machine. A good rule of thumb is, if the computer is more than 4 years old, you might want to consider replacing your computer rather than upgrading because of the fact that you may have to replace almost all the major components in the computer to get it up to date. If you need help deciding, please contact us for a free evaluation of your existing computer. We will be able to tell you your options and our opinion on what you should do regarding this matter.
